After recording "Lovely is the Moment" in Pedernales Studios with CJ Eiriksson, performing on the same SXSW stage as NEON TREES for BMI LIVE Express Rocks, battling it out on the Gibson Guitar Showroom with Dead Swagger, Midnight Riot will be featured in a "follow-up" story of their MY BAND ROCKS FOX 2011 journey on Wednesday night, May 25, 2011 (on FOX7). Not only that, but they will once again be featured on the FOX7 morning show Good Day Austin at 8:40am the next day, Thurdsay, May 26, 2011. Midnight Riot, along with all the hype, will be releasing their track "Lovely is the Moment" (Produced, Engineered, and Mixed by CJ Eiriksson) for FREE that Wednesday night, for only a simple mailing-list sign-up HERE on the official Midnight Riot website.

May 19, 2011 will be a much anticipated gig for the band. Midnight Riot will be performing at Antone’s Night Club (213 West 5th Street, Austin, TX) on Thursday for the Read Write Rock! for CapCityKids starting at 6pm. The event is a “musical fundraiser for CapCityKids to support programs that help homeless kids in the Austin Independent School District stay in school and excel.”

Headliners include: David Grissom, Malford Milligan, Will Taylor & Strings Attached, Terri Hendrix, and special guests including Gavin Tabone, Charlie Gore, the Barton Hills Choir, Midnight Riot and Saturday Night Special. Food, drinks, raffles, and a house full of community-minded, music-loving Austinites.

Midnight Riot performed for the Do the WRITE Thing event on May 13, 2011 for middle school students who had submitted stories and essays encouraging non-violence. The students’ work depicted real-life experiences of emotional and wounding events, thoughts about encouraging love and spreading peace, and truly moving words that spoke out against hate and the causes of violence.

Not only did we get to hear all of the students’ poems/short stories, but we were honored to hear the two finalists’ stories that truly impacted everyone in the room. Tears of pain and past frustrations erupted from a student and the endless emotions compelled the hearts and minds of all who were listening. You can check out the news story here!

We, as the band, were honored to receive a Certificate of Appreciation, and were very humbled and grateful, and honestly, felt undeserving or being recognized after hearing all the brave kids walk up to the front and spill their hearts out. Every child there was so inspiring and talented, and we only hope and encourage them to continue in writing about what they truly believe in. Thanks to all who made it possible for us to be involved! Midnight Riot will be recording with CJ Eiriksson at Pedernales Studios on May 2, 2011. They are set to record one track, after winning recording time from the MY BAND ROCKS FOX contest earlier in February.

The song chosen by Eiriksson will be recorded in the day long studio session, and will most likely be released later as a single. Some other noteworthy artitsts that have recorded at Willie Nelson’s studio include: SRV, Robert Plant, Sublime, Eric Johnson, Ray Charles, and many more found here on their website.

Alternative rock band Midnight Riot competed in the Emo's Battle of the Bands on March 27.

Leading the band is ACC Round Rock Campus student Amanda Kirkpatrick, whose fiery vocals bring a dimension to the band and often draws comparisons to another alternative-rock front woman Hayley Williams from Paramore.

"I look up to Hayley Williams, but I also look up to other vocalists that aren't exactly in our genre. For instance, Florence And The Machine, I love her energy and how she can change a simple song and make it unique just from her vocals," said Amanda Kirkpatrick.

This isn't the first time the band has competed against other bands. The band recently won the "My Band Rocks Fox" contest which named them the best under-21 band in Austin They also competed in the College Battle of the Bands presented by Chegg, an online textbook rental service, on March 20. "Thanks to these competitions so many doors have opened for us. We are going to be working in the studio with a pretty sweet producer, CJ Eriksson, who has worked with other bands like U2. So a lot of good opportunities have come out of these experiences," said Austin Canary, Midnight Riot's guitarist.
